Fishing was very good over the weekend, we caught fish just about everyplace we stopped. I was surprised at how empty the campgrounds were and there were not as many people on the river this trip. It's a great time to be on the Kern. My buddy Mark and I both caught fish in the 18in range and I lost a couple that broke my heart. One that I lost Sunday was HUGE! Mark and I both estimated him at 23-24in. I faught him for quite a while and got him up to me but he was bigger than my little net was ready for so I asked Mark to net him with his. He had stopped fighting and I was holding him at the end of my rod for Mark to net when he spooked and made another run around Marks leg and broke off. He was easily my biggest yet from the Kern.

Love you posts Gary but d..m im jealous...cant make it till thanksgiving and i dont care if the end of me or my husbands pole freezes up, we'll be fishing with the kids. I can remember yrs ago when they were still home with the grandparents we went up around thanksgiving and we were standing on the upper river in the SNOW and the eyes on the end of our pole froze and we couldnt reel anymore...lOL. Heck it was still worth it and we both got a good laugh thinking are we nuts...LOL. Yeah maybe but hopefully this time we'll get to post some more pics. Cant wait...keep the reports coming and Gary, love the pics. You have no idea how badly we want to jump in the car with these posts of "fish everywhere" coming in. Take care and thanks for keeping the kern fever in this house going! Mark, Bobbie and kids.

The one that gets away will only get bigger with time (and each time you tell the story) Hey you got color, I call it a clean catch. You were only gonna take a foto and release it anyhow
Well done. I am hoping for a softball free weekend and I am heading up.
