I heard from a friend who is up there currently that the river is a mess with trash from the holiday weekend. He also said they are not stocking because of this. Is this true on the entire river or only certain spots. I am coming up tomorrow and hope this is not the case. Does anyone know what is up with this story?
Thanks
Nag

DFG stocks based on road, weather and road conditions. They dont worry about party trash. It would unfair for the anglers that come up the week following a Holiday for the stocking to be suspended because of trash along the river.
Trash is nothing new up on the Kern.Unfortunately, people forget how to carry packages once their contents have been removed (chips, beer, bread, carne asada, diapers, hot dogs) It is frustrating. I wish the Sheriffs and Rangers would write mote citations for littering. It is an expensive ticket. I guess it doesnt matter when they identity you are using isnt really yours. (I know, i just took the low road) Or you figure the next time you are in jail you will get time served for this violation (that turned into a warrant) Just add a couple days to my sentence.
I call it how I see it. I am not PC
All we can do to combat this is try and educate the people we interact with. Carry a trash bag for 30 minutes one day and have your group pick up trash that the a-holes left behind. Teach the kids the right way!! It really does make a difference.

I drive 5 hours to Kernville.
I plan on several trips the next 4 weeks.
Is there a way to keep up to date on the thunderstorms and debris flows in the river?

The best way I know of to keep informed about river conditions is forums like this. You can also give a call to a local shop and ask them.
I think the stocking schedule should be pretyy dependable as long as the water clears up from the thunderstorms. I don't think that they will stock if the river is still muddy.
