Anyone know if there is going to be regular stocking This year or is there going to be a carryover of the States, there is no money for the hatcheries policy. I know some of the lakes in the southern part of the state are already getting plenty of trout. I don't know if this is the local businesses contributing to the program or if the state is just making preferred choices on which lakes to stock. In the past I have made as many as 10 trips a year to fish the river but, last year I made one.

I, also, use to fish the Kern regularly( 5 visits per year, 3-day stays;, but, last year, once. Hope things change.
Kernville, Kern River, use to be great action. Hope it can regain its once popular status.

Any update on stocking schedule; if any

The Kernville hatchery has been under construction for the last several months. Completion is waaaaaayyyyyyy behind schedule. Probably won't be completed before summer. In the mean time it is a long day to bring trout from the the hatchery to the Upper Kern so there will be fewer stockings until the construction is completed. No hatchery no trophy trout......... Not until the hatchery is operational again and they can begin to fatten trout again but they won't reach 4ls until summer of 2018. We will have very high water all summer with a snow pack over 200% of normal. Be very careful if you go fishing. I won't until well after 4th of July. In the mean time I hope the body count (drownings) doesn't go too high in 2017 but there will be some that won't realize the danger.

Rafting companies are very happy.

Progress schedule seems about right for the DFG.

Any signs Kern stocking might begin soon?

I'm hoping it's soon.
