Just checking, I haven't seen anything new on this forum in a month. Wondering if something is up, or maybe it's my connection.

It just seems that nobody has been posting.

No one has been fishing - or, no one has had a hookup.

I miss the reports.

Yep, no one has been posting. Never liked switching the format but it was necessary. I take it that most are staying home during the economic crisis. However, I do know that the die hard people that are showing up and hitting the river and lake are doing fantastic. One group that an in-law brought up from L.A. was here from Thursday to Saturday, maxed out with nothing under 2 pounds. What I saw were beauties in the 3-4 pound range and they were ecstatic about it. That's a group of 6 people who caught their limits everyday. I told him to post the results but some want to keep secrets...but I won't. They worked areas on the upper Kern below the bridge and down to Ant Canyon over the time they were here. What was more impressive is that between golf and poker they didn't spend much time hooking all of them.

Catfish and Crappie are the big hitters on the lake at this time.

Ant Canyon is about 10 miles below the bridge. They worked Limestone, Roads End, Fairview, and sections south towards Kernville. Ant Canyon is 9 miles up river from Kernville. ANY sections up river, that people are fond of, were producing. And I haven't seen quality takes of fish like they had in a long, long time. If you like Riverside Park...hit it. Some were doing great there too. DFG was still stocking up river as of last week, and not that many taking em out.

I'm gearing up for another excursion to the Kern. I've used bait on my previous trips, but, I'm going lures only this upcoming trip.

Any suggestions, recommendations for which lures? One friend mentioned 'super-dupers' ?
