Anyone with any early Crappie news? The last few seasons were fairly poor with alot of work. I remember about 5-6 years ago I was catching 100's of crappie mixed with cats, bluegill/sunperch, bass, trout all out of the same hole on the same lure. Thanks

Got an acquaintance that catches 20 to 50 per day just sitting in a small houseboat tied up at French Gulch. He used to pull them through the openings on the dock. He's a C&R kind of guy and just wants to think about his book writing while dunk'n. If someone he knows wants a few, he'll bring them home and fillet them. He catches them all morning long and has been challenged on counts and beat them more times than I can remember. He's low key and doesn't talk about it much but if you see a guy with a bunch of crappie, ask him if his name is Jerry Stanley, he might give you some hints. He's a former professor of history at Cal State and has a few books that have done very well, so the daily fishing must help. One book is Children of the Dust Bowl. True history about Weedpatch Camp, their school and us "dumb Okies" that Bakersfield used to ban from stores, public places and school. His works can be found Googled under "jerry stanley & writer"
This is not a plug for him. I just find the guy very interesting and...extremely amazing at catching crappie when no one else can even find them.
