For those who love the line fight and taste of good trout...The lake has just been stocked with 1,200 pounds (about 750) of Alpers trout brought in by the Inland Aquaculture Group. These lunkers were dumped with an average 2 to 3 pounds each and are prized by anglers everywhere. They are hand fed and raised in streams and ponds at the Alpers Owen River Ranch. Famous for size and wildness they fight like no other trout and have tender pink meat. A second load will probably be brought in the week of the derby to enhance everyone's chances of an exciting weekend of fishing. The word is already out so don't miss your chance.
