Water Conditions/Clarity

Postby bnaginey » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:47 pm

I know that with the warmer weather the flow has increased by almost 300cfs since last weekend. Has anyone seen the water quality decrease? Is it getting muddy or is all still well? Heading up there tomorrow evening for a great weekend no mater what but would love a heads up on how much increase there has been since last weekend.

Thanks

based upon my experience over the years, the river is usually only muddy due to rain. The rain may be local to Kernville or up higher in the watershed. The river will run muddy for a couple of days after a rain and fishing stinks. This is the time of year when water flow will continue to increase for the next 1-2 months then taper off as the snowpack melts. Have a great weekend, seems like the weather will be nice.

As the flows increased the last few days the clarity has gone down. I would say it apears more stained than muddy. Clarity is still very good and fishing continues to be outstanding. I had another great day of catch and release fishing with at least 20 fish. Heading down to the water now to give it another round.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait for the work day to end so I can head north.
