I don't use spin gear much on the river any more but super dupers used to be one of my favorites. KastMasters and Panther Martins were always my "go to" lures. A fly and bubble are always good too. A lot of guys have started useing the little soft plastic jigs but I've never done much good with them.

Calduke...super dupers are my favorite but panther martins and rooster tails do great as well. If you have a great stock of those you should do just fine...good luck and cant wait for the post.

Which roostertail?

Everything changes, but my history while living at Roads End was Rooster Tails were always the lure of choice by regulars. Black and Yellow, we couldn't keep 'em in stock. We sold them like crazy. I don't think that's changed much. There should still be quite a few in the river. Bring the bait anyway. In order: Fireballs, Power Bait, Rooster Tails and If all else fails, hook up the crickets and nightcrawlers. There are some real beauties out there right now. Best of luck.

Calduke...i prefer any rooster tail with yellow in it. I also lilke white. you cant go wrong with super dupers either. never been good at kastmasters. My husband does really good with panther martins with any of them with red dots or yellow dots on em. youll do great, no one is fishing and the holdovers are just waiting calling our names...hehehe. cant wait to slam em on thanksgiving. good luck and we'll all be waiting on your post.

I always have good luck with the metallic brown Roostertail's, either 1/16th or 1/8th ounce.

Well, here is an updated report!! I went to High School up there and my Mother still lives there. I went to visit and fished the power plant first...they said they stocked a ton of fish that week. Nothing at the power plant. The guys at James Store said they probably fished it out. Then we tried up north just above Hospitol Flats. Nothing. We then went to the bridge and fished just above it on the trailer park side, not the Ewings side. We ended up with a nice stringer of fish..a couple above the 2lb range. I have some great pictures and awesome vidoe of my girlfriend landing one. We used Powerbait and garlic sauce!! We only use single hooks though because trebles just get caught up way too much. Barely any weight to get it to sink naturally. I hope this helps. We usually fish at home in Orange County at Lake Irvine, but we will be there this weekend for Thanksgiving. Hopefully someone will pst some newer reports to go by....

When you say bridge, do you mean Johnsondale Bridge?

No sir...the bridge smack dab in the middle of downtown Kernville, sorry. Thats why I mentioned landmarks like Ewings. We were only about 20-25 feet above the bridge. You can see some of the trout, but most of them hide under the rocks until the offering drifts by. Hope this clarifies
