The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) is offering draws for three controlled hunting opportunities on the Chimineas Unit of the Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve in San Luis Obispo County. Twenty-five permits will be drawn for each hunt and each permit is good for two hunters.

Application deadlines for drive-on hunts on the Chimineas Unit are:

* Sept. 11-12, 2010 for dove, pig and rabbit on the North Chimineas Unit. Applications must be received by Aug. 13.
* Dec. 11-12, 2010 for dove, quail, pig and rabbit on the South Chimineas Unit. Applications must be received by Nov. 12.
* Jan. 8-9, 2011 for, quail, pig and rabbit on the South Chimineas Unit. Applications must be received by Dec. 10.
* Five additional permits for each hunt will be allotted to mobility-impaired hunters. The application process is the same as for the regular drawings. Applicants should add the words “Special Draw” on the attention line. Successful applicants must have a Mobility Impaired Disabled Persons Motor Vehicle Hunting License or a standard handicap vehicle placard or license plate on the day of the hunt. If more than five applications are received, there will be a drawing among the mobility-impaired applicants.
