Here's a photo of what they're catching between Johnsondale Bridge and Kernville. Can't tell you the hot spot these came from but it shows the Hatchery is doing their job on the river with the 'Trophy Trout Program.' It also shows what a little knowledge of the river and popular baits can accomplish. If you want to know more, stop in at Primo's Deli and talk with Duane. He snapped this photo of his daughter, Kirstin Holland and Frank Rodriguez, both from Kernville. I made my first trip to the kern at the end of april and fished three more times untill fathers day. Ended up catching 14 trout over 17", largest was 21.5". He came in at 5.5 lbs. two others were just over 5 lbs. What's with the biggins this year? I hope they keep it up.
